The groom's wedding day checklist

Almost all wedding advice is written for brides. Yet grooms keep asking the same question online: what can I do to make the day better? This is that list: short, practical, and built around the moments grooms say they treasure most afterwards.

The week before

• Write two things: your vows (if you are doing them) and one note to your partner to read while getting ready. That note takes ten minutes and gets kept forever.
• Assign helpers. One friend for the rings, one to wrangle families for group photos, and the MC or DJ to hit record on the vows and speeches. On the day itself you arrange nothing; you delegate it this week.

On the day: claim these three moments

1. Fifteen minutes with your friends. Step outside with your groomsmen at some point. It is rarer than you think for all of you to be in one place; grooms consistently name this their best decision of the day.
2. One quiet moment for the two of you. Five minutes away from everyone. The day races by; this is the pause button.

What you do not have to arrange

The photos of all those moments.
